Is there a solicitor/copper/ex copper in the house

I'm working on a script and need some advice on a legal technicality.
If someone was arrested for a non violent assault (he groped her tits in a bar, thinking it was funny) could the person assaulted offer to drop the charges if the groper donated say, £1000, to a charity?
And if they could, how would the police feel about this?

If victim benefited from the proposed charity and it was called the Brownies, a grand donation probably wouldn't change the outcome.

Funny I was only chatting to someone last week recalling an old work colleague who (20 years ago) used to pull the “I bet you a £1 I can make your tits wobble without touching them” routine. Girls in the office on nights out used to laugh it off (mostly as it was “just Steve”!) .... I said he would be charged if he did it today. Are you Steve ... sorry is your character called Steve ?

If he has admitted the offence in police interview, he is likely to plead guilty and her evidence would not then be needed anyway. If he denied it or went no comment, or if he pleads not guilty because he has heard that she might drop the complaint, she may well think him not worthy of any compassion and reconsider the offer she has in mind.
If a trial date has been fixed but she no longer supports proceedings, she should tell the police. The CPS will then decide whether to witness summons her to court. Sexual offences, even non-injury offences, are treated more seriously.
She cannot place a condition on dropping charges. It's up to the court, not her, to decide what sentence is required, and sex offenders registration (which would follow a conviction ) is deemed necessary for the protection of others in future.
